Celebrate the 18th anniversary of the AURCO Conference at Ohio University Zanesville. In addition to presentations on the teaching, service, and scholarship that is occurring on Ohio's 24 university regional campuses, the conference will also feature:
roundtables
-- as broad or narrow as desired
-- focused on a specific discipline (i.e. Literature) or teaching topic (teaching online)
workshops
-- held on Friday with reports discussed at panel sessions on Saturday
panels
-- to discuss discipline or teaching related issues
-- to discuss adjunct issues at a regional campus
-- to discuss staff issues at a regional campus
student essay and student poster contest
-- for branch campus students to present their creative or scholarly work

-- for students to discuss issues of importance to them

Dr. Dan Evans, Vice Provost for Strategic Initiatives for Ohio University
Technology: Changing the Way We Do School
Dr. Dan Evans is no stranger to education having made a career of being an educator or education administrator. Even upon stepping down after a 39-year career, he is still actively engaged in education as he now oversees higher education partnerships on behalf of Ohio University with 13 different Community Colleges, twelve in Ohio and one in West Virginia.
Dr. Evans currently serves as Vice Provost for Strategic Initiatives for Ohio University. In his former positions, Dan served as Dean of the Wright State University Lake Campus, then as Dean of Ohio University Southern, and more recently as the Executive Dean of Ohio University Regional Campuses and Vice Provost for E-Learning. In that latter role, he was responsible for five regional campuses (Chillicothe, Eastern, Lancaster, Southern, and Zanesville), two centers (Pickerington and Proctorville), as well as the extended outreach and on-line missions of Ohio University, representing over one-third of the total enrollment of the institution.
Dan began his college studies after high school graduation at the Ohio University “Ironton Branch” and later relocated to Athens where he was the first from his family to graduate from college. He went on to earn a master’s degree at Morehead State University in Kentucky, and a PhD from Ohio University. Dan is committed to the access mission of higher education and is a self-described “lifelong learner” who has himself completed course work at ten different universities.
Dan now makes his home along the Ohio River in Haverhill with his wife Beth who is a retired early childhood and elementary school teacher.

I have had the privilege of working with an outstanding faculty, dedicated to bringing out the best in each of their students. In addition, I have seen firsthand a staff committed to serving students above self,” he says.
Evans truly walks the talk and we’re pleased he is sharing his wisdom and insights. He brings his experience with technology both as a student over the years and as an innovative and strategic partner for Ohio University to his keynote presentation at this year’s AURCO conference. His presentation entitled, “Technology: Changing the Way We Do School” is in direct alignment with our 2012 AURCO Conference theme, “Innovative Education for the Internet Generation.”
